Live From The Great Gate – Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima

On the sacred island of Miyajima, we had the privilege of performing music beneath the gaze of the legendary Ōtorii, the “Great Gate” that rises from the sea in front of Itsukushima Shrine. Recognized as one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks, this vermilion gate has welcomed travelers and dreamers for centuries, symbolizing the threshold between the human and the divine.

That evening, with the tide surrounding the torii and the lights shimmering on the water, we played a dialogue between violin and synthesizer. It was a night of stillness and resonance — a bridge between tradition and modern sound.
Earlier that day, we had wandered through the lively streets of the island, shared moments with the friendly deer that walk freely around Miyajima, and climbed the paths leading into its lush forests. But when the night fell, standing before the torii, we felt something different: the deep silence of history and the timeless heartbeat of this sacred place.
This video is our humble offering to that unforgettable night — a memory of music, nature, and spirit, forever framed by the Great Torii of Miyajima.
